Debuting with Gorilla Manor in 2009, their understated folk, full of youthful abandon and soaked in Californian sunshine made Local Natives the emerging indie rockers of the moment.
Returning with Hummingbird, the second LP was dubbed "unexpectedly brilliant" by NME and praised for its “undercurrent of stormy emotionalism” by Rolling Stone, no doubt referencing the machine-gun rhythms and surging intensity. Carving out a more matured sound, new cut Past Lives sees Local Natives pack unapologetically bold melodies, drifting harmonies and percussion just as battle-ready but more breathable into a undeniably infectious tune.
Just as much "the band you have to see live" as they were 7 years ago, Local Natives play Leeds University's Stylus on November 7th.
